Who you'll be working for
The ASEAN AI Innovation Centre is the overseas R&D hub of our AI Business Group, localizing mature AI products from China and building new AI products for Malaysia and broader ASEAN markets, with a focus on energy and education.
What requirements you'll need to be eligible
- 4+ years of software engineering experience with Python and/or TypeScript, APIs, databases, and integrations.
- Hands-on experience with LLM applications, such as RAG, prompt engineering, tool calling, or agentic workflows.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguous environments, messy data, and changing requirements.
- Strong English communication skills across technical and business stakeholders.
- Regular use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites across Malaysia, with occasional ASEAN travel.
PREFERRED
- Experience with enterprise, industrial, or energy systems such as SCADA, EMS, ERP, or utility platforms.
- Experience delivering AI solutions or POCs to enterprise customers.
- Mandarin proficiency; Malay is a plus.
What you'll be doing on the job
We are hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to build and deploy AI solutions in enterprise customer environments. You will work directly with customers to understand their systems, develop tailored solutions, deliver POCs, and prepare successful solutions for production.
This is a hands-on individual-contributor role involving customer workshops, coding, integration, and troubleshooting. AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor are part of the daily workflow.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Discovery: Assess customer systems, data, requirements, and constraints.
- Solution Development: Build AI agents, RAG pipelines, integrations, and custom extensions.
- POCs: Develop and demonstrate working solutions using customer data.
- Evaluation: Test solution reliability and support production-readiness decisions.
- Product Feedback: Turn customer learnings into reusable solutions and product improvements.
