Who you'll be working for
Our client is a leading IT services company currently engaged in a large-scale telecommunications IT project, delivering critical network infrastructure solutions to major telco operators.
What requirements you'll need to be eligible
▸ Established track record in Fixed Access Product hardware design, with end-to-end ownership of product delivery in time-to-market environments; deep understanding of the complete hardware development lifecycle is essential.
▸ Hands-on experience with GPON/EPON technologies, including digital circuit system design; prior background working with Optical Line Terminal (OLT) platforms is a distinct advantage.
▸ Demonstrated ability to deliver cost-optimised hardware designs through thoughtful component selection and the effective use of local, low-cost supply ecosystems.
▸ Sound knowledge of system thermal design principles, with experience identifying and implementing improvements.
▸ Direct participation in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities covering both manufacturing defects and field-level product failures.
▸ Experience managing and collaborating with external component suppliers and OEM/ODM vendors throughout the product development process.
▸ Familiarity with relevant telecom industry standards including ETSI, NEBS, Telcordia, and EU ED-RoHS; solid grasp of Ethernet, IP networking, optical transmission (PON), and POTS technologies.
▸ Proficiency with circuit design and simulation tools, including PLD/FPGA design environments.
What you'll be doing on the job
- Lead end-to-end hardware design and development of fixed access network products, managing the full lifecycle from concept and schematic design through to mass production and field deployment.
- Design and validate digital circuits for GPON/EPON-based access platforms, with particular focus on OLT hardware architecture, signal integrity, and board-level performance optimisation.
- Drive cost-optimised hardware design decisions through strategic component selection, leveraging local and low-cost supply ecosystems without compromising product reliability or compliance.
- Conduct system thermal analysis and implement design improvements to ensure products meet operational temperature requirements across varied deployment environments.
- Lead and participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for both manufacturing defects and field-level product failures, working cross-functionally to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Engage and manage relationships with external component suppliers and OEM/ODM vendors, ensuring timely delivery, technical alignment, and quality standards throughout the supply chain.
- Ensure all hardware designs comply with relevant international telecom standards including ETSI, NEBS, Telcordia, and EU ED-RoHS, and validate against Ethernet, IP networking, optical transmission (PON), and POTS requirements.
- Utilise circuit design and simulation tools including PLD/FPGA design environments to prototype, verify, and optimise hardware designs prior to production.
- Collaborate closely with software and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration across the access network product portfolio.
- Support continuous improvement of hardware development processes, contributing to technical documentation, design reviews, and knowledge sharing within the engineering team
