What requirements you'll need to be eligible
- Candidate must possess at least a Professional B0 chargeman Certificate.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical maintenance and management, preferably in a critical infrastructure environment (e.g., Data Centre, industrial settings, etc.
- Proven experience with electrical troubleshooting and system monitoring in large-scale operations.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, backup power systems (generators, UPS), and power distribution.
- Positive and aggressive working attitude, able to think critically, a good team player, leadership skills, and able to work independently.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage emergency situations effectively.
- Good command in English for both oral and written.
- Proficiency in MS Office is a must. Any other engineering-related software proficiency will be an added advantage.
- Availability to respond to electrical emergencies outside of normal working hours.
What you'll be doing on the job
- Electrical System Operations & Maintenance:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain electrical systems within the Data Centre, including power distribution panels, circuit breakers, transformers, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.
- Perform routine checks and troubleshooting of electrical systems to identify and resolve faults promptly.
- Oversee the testing and maintenance of backup power systems such as generators and UPS to ensure readiness in case of power interruptions.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including those related to electrical installations and maintenance.
- Participate in regular safety audits and inspections, ensuring any issues are identified and rectified.
- Prepare and maintain accurate safety and maintenance records, including compliance documentation.
- Troubleshooting & Emergency Response:
- Respond to electrical faults and emergencies, ensuring timely repairs to prevent system downtime or equipment damage.
- Act as the primary point of contact for electrical issues, coordinating the response efforts with other technical teams and external contractors when necessary.
- Lead in power restoration during outages or failures and ensure minimal disruption to data centre operations.
- Team Support and Coordination:
- Supervise other technical support, ensuring tasks are carried out efficiently and safely.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for team members during electrical system failures or maintenance tasks.
- Providing support to shifts staff to ensure 24/7 coverage for electrical systems in the data centre.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain up-to-date logs of electrical system performance, maintenance activities, and repairs.
- Report on the status of electrical equipment, any faults identified, and corrective actions taken.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management regarding electrical system health and safety audits.
- Vendor & Contractor Coordination:
- Coordinate with external vendors or contractors for the installation, maintenance, or repair of electrical systems.
- Ensure that contractors adhere to safety protocols and operational requirements during service visits.
- Equipment Installation & Upgrades:
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and testing of new electrical equipment or infrastructure as required.
- Ensure proper integration of new systems with existing electrical infrastructure.
