Who you'll be working for
Digital and intelligent operations & maintenance (AIOps) services, delivering communication network, data center, energy, and digital transformation solutions across the country.
What requirements you'll need to be eligible
- 5+ years of hands-on UI/product design experience for software products, preferably B2B SaaS, enterprise dashboards, AI products, or data-heavy applications.
- Strong Figma skills, including component libraries, auto layout, variants, prototyping, handoff specs, and design system maintenance.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating visual design quality, interaction logic, information architecture, and the ability to simplify complex workflows.
- Good understanding of frontend basics such as HTML, CSS, responsive layout, component-based UI, and design-to-development handoff. You do not need to be a production frontend engineer.
- Practical use of AI tools for UI exploration, prototyping, UX writing, or frontend draft generation, such as Figma Make, v0, Lovable, Bolt.new, Replit, Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar tools.
- Strong English communication and UI writing ability; able to make interface text concise, professional, and user-friendly for Malaysian and ASEAN users.
- Ability to work in an ambiguous, startup-like environment, iterate quickly, and balance speed with design quality.
- User-centered mindset and sensitivity to local culture, business etiquette, and English-language product experience in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
WHAT YOU CAN LEARN HERE
- AI-native design workflows where product specs, UI prototypes, and AI-assisted frontend drafts form a tight feedback loop.
- How LLMs, RAG, and AI agent workflows affect interface design, trust, explainability, confidence indicators, and human-in-the-loop controls.
- Design-to-code workflows with AI tools, including prompt patterns, design system integration, prototype validation, and engineering review gates.
- Multi-market localization strategies for Southeast Asia, especially adapting China-origin products to ASEAN users.
- Domain knowledge in AI+Energy and AI+Education products.
- Responsible AI UX, privacy-aware design, and ASEAN regulatory context such as Malaysia PDPA.
What you'll be doing on the job
The Malaysia AI Innovation Center is the overseas R&D hub of our AI Business Group, responsible for localizing mature AI products from China and building new AI products for Malaysia and broader ASEAN markets.
We are looking for an AI-Native Product UI Engineer with a UI-first mindset. Your primary responsibility is to make AI products clear, usable, localized, and visually coherent for English-speaking Malaysian users. You will work closely with the AI-Native Product Manager and the Senior Software Engineer (Architecture Track) to turn product requirements into user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, design systems, and AI-generated interactive prototypes.
This is a design-led role, not a traditional full production frontend engineering role. We do not expect you to be both a senior UI designer and a senior frontend engineer. You should, however, be comfortable using AI prototyping and code-generation tools such as Figma Make, v0, Lovable, Bolt.new, Replit, Cursor, ChatGPT, and Claude to create clickable prototypes, interface variations, and frontend drafts that help the team validate ideas quickly. Final production implementation will be reviewed and completed with engineers and architecture leadership.
As a founding design owner, you will shape local product interface standards for ASEAN clients in energy and education: English UI copy, layout density, navigation patterns, responsive behavior, accessibility, and reusable component libraries.
ROLE POSITIONING
- UI-first ownership: Own the product interface experience from product concept to design-ready and prototype-ready output.
- AI-assisted frontend prototyping: Use AI tools to generate prototypes and frontend drafts, but do not carry sole responsibility for production-grade frontend engineering.
- Localization design owner: Adapt China-origin product interfaces for Malaysian and ASEAN users, going beyond translation to redesign workflows, layouts, wording, and usability patterns.
- Bridge role: Connect PM intent, user needs, design standards, and engineering implementation without forcing one person to be expert-level in both UI and frontend development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Product UI & Interaction Design: Translate PRDs, customer workflows, and product ideas into user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity screens, clickable prototypes, and interaction specifications.
- Localization of Mature Products: Redesign China-origin product interfaces for Malaysian and ASEAN English-speaking users. Adjust information architecture, page density, navigation, terminology, microcopy, and cultural expectations rather than simply translating text.
- AI-Native Prototyping: Use AI tools such as Figma Make, v0, Lovable, Bolt.new, Replit, Cursor, ChatGPT, and Claude to rapidly generate interface options, clickable prototypes, UI copy alternatives, and frontend draft screens for fast validation.
- Design System & UI Standards: Build and maintain reusable UI patterns, including typography, spacing, colors, forms, tables, dashboards, AI chat interfaces, loading states, empty states, error states, and permission states.
- B2B Product Experience: Design clear enterprise interfaces for AI products in energy and education, including dashboards, workflow tools, admin views, data-heavy pages, and human-in-the-loop AI interaction patterns.
- English UX Writing & Microcopy: Create concise and natural English UI text, including button labels, field names, prompts, help text, warnings, errors, onboarding instructions, and AI response guidance.
- Frontend Collaboration & Handoff: Prepare clear design specs, component requirements, interaction states, and responsive behavior guidelines for engineers. Review implementation quality to ensure the final product matches the intended user experience.
- User Validation & Iteration: Support the Product Manager in customer interviews, usability reviews, demo feedback sessions, and pilot iteration. Update UI based on local customer insights and real product usage.
- AI Tooling Practices: Develop prompt templates, UI generation workflows, and design-to-code guardrails so the team can use AI tools consistently without losing design quality.
- Accessibility & Responsiveness: Ensure readability, responsive layout, appropriate contrast, keyboard and state design, and practical accessibility considerations for enterprise users.
